Getting started
Install the Chrome extension
Open the Chrome Web Store, search for MedX Assistant, and click Add to Chrome. The extension icon will appear in your toolbar.
Chrome Web Store →Does MedX Assistant work at my facility?
MedX Assistant requires a backend to be deployed at your facility first. If the extension shows a connection error or you haven't heard from your IT team, your facility may not be set up yet.
Request facility setup →Which EMR systems are supported?
MedX Assistant currently supports EAFYA. We are actively expanding to other web-based EMRs. Contact us if your facility uses a different system.

The assistant panel isn't appearing
- 1.Make sure you are on a patient page in your EMR — the panel only appears when a patient is open.
- 2.Check that the extension is enabled: click the puzzle icon in Chrome toolbar → find MedX Assistant → ensure it is turned on.
- 3.Try refreshing the EMR page.
- 4.If the problem persists, remove and reinstall the extension.
Connection error or “cannot reach server”
- 1.Your facility’s MedX backend may be offline. Contact your facility IT team.
- 2.Check your network connection.
- 3.If you are using a VPN, ensure it is connected to your facility network.
- 4.If the problem continues, email us with your facility name and we will investigate.
Patient is not being detected
- 1.Ensure you have fully loaded the patient record — wait for the page to finish loading.
- 2.Navigate directly to the patient overview or visit summary page.
- 3.If the patient still isn’t detected, the current page layout may not yet be supported. Email us with a description of which page you’re on.
Summaries or alerts seem outdated
- 1.Click the refresh button inside the assistant panel.
- 2.If data is still stale, log out and back into the EMR to refresh your session.
- 3.Data shown by the assistant reflects what is recorded in the EMR at the time of the request — ensure the EMR itself is up to date.
Frequently asked questions
Is patient data sent to MedX?
No. All clinical data stays within your facility's own infrastructure. The extension queries your facility's own backend server — nothing is sent to MedX servers. See our privacy policy for full details.
Do I need an account to use MedX Assistant?
No separate MedX account is needed. The extension uses your existing EMR session to authenticate with your facility's backend.
How long does facility deployment take?
Typically 2–4 weeks depending on your EMR system and IT setup. Our team works directly with your IT department.
Can I use MedX Assistant on multiple computers?
Yes. Install the extension on any Chrome browser and sign in with your EMR credentials. Your facility backend URL is stored locally on each device.
Is MedX Assistant available on mobile?
Not yet — it is currently a Chrome desktop extension. iOS and Android apps are on our roadmap.
